Support in Rwanda

Breast Cancer Initiative East
Africa

We are a Survivor-Led Breast Cancer Support Organization based in the USA and Rwanda.

We are the pioneers of Breast Cancer Awareness and Support in Rwanda.  Over the past 18 years our mission has been to provide awareness, education, patient navigation, survivor support and infrastructure through love, dedication and innovation.

We started our journey with 27 Women in 2007 and have now impacted over 55,000+ individuals.

Our work is grounded on evidence and results as we consistently reach the most vulnerable communities in Rwanda, providing support and resources.  Prevention, Early Detection and Support are our pillars

Without Awareness there is no Action!

Breast Cancer Initiative East Africa

Support in Rwanda

Join us as we revolutionize breast cancer support and education in Rwanda. As the pioneers of breast cancer awareness in the country, we have dedicated the past 17 years to building a foundation where none existed.

From the heart of Rwanda, we are reimagining what a nonprofit can be — not as charity, but as a catalyst. Rooted in the rhythm of our communities and powered by the intelligence of our time, this mission is a living blueprint — where AI meets empathy, where survivors lead the way, and where youth rise not only to learn, but to build.

Revolutionizing Breast Cancer Support: Bringing Practical Innovative Solutions to the Village

How do you bring technology and AI to a village in a useful and impactful way? This was our challenge and we rose to the occasion.  We have created pragmatic solutions that are directly impacting awareness, education and data collection in our work in the villages.  By equipping our Village Ambassadors with accessible and practical tools, we are able to leverage the latest technologies in the least likely place, a village.  Whether it is a digital assistant that serves as an educational support system, automatically transforming hand written data reports into interactive documents or efficiently coordinating and managing our visits we have found and created a powerful use case for AI and technology.

THE COMIC BOOK SERIES
THAT SAVES LIVES!

Harnessing the power of storytelling and emotional resonance, our adult graphic novels/comics are revolutionizing health education in Rwanda. At the heart of our series are real-life superheroes, survivors whose compelling health journeys inspire and educate. Our comics  are far more than entertaining stories, they contain embedded QR codes linking readers directly to our educational resources and screening registration. As these materials circulate through communities, they serve as both awareness tools and gateways to our services.

“This initiative has reminded us that health is our greatest wealth, as leaders, we must ensure our teams have access to the knowledge and resources needed to prioritize their well-being. I’m proud of the positive impact this has had on our staff.”

"On my journey to recovering from breast cancer, BCIEA provided me with incredible support. The most life-changing help I received was a breast prosthesis, which restored my confidence and comfort."

"Before BCIEA, survivors like me had to buy expensive silicone breast prostheses, which many could not afford. But BCIEA introduced Made-in-Rwanda knitted breast prostheses and provided them to us completely free of charge. This made a huge difference in my life. Beyond that, BCIEA staff and fellow survivors supported me during my lowest moments. There was a time when I felt hopeless and alone, but the people I met at the Pink House encouraged me and helped me regain my strength. Today, I live with confidence and no longer fear for my future—all thanks to BCIEA."
